Ev’rest jumped ahead and encountered the ambush while Bell jumped up the sides of the gate and dived down onto the assaulters, cutting them down one by one as Ev’rest finished them off. Suddenly, a swarm of arrows flew down from the castle walls. “It’s a trap!” Bell screamed. “Fall back,” Ev’rest yelled, blocking shots with his arms. They managed to hide behind the gate. “They have us pinned,” Bell said. “What now?” They took a moment to think. “What if we split up?” He suggested. “Sure,” Ev’rest replied. “But how do we get in?” “We can make a break for the door,” Bell said. “Let’s try it,” Ev’rest said.
