It seems out of nowhere but this connects to religion really well, specifically sin and virtue. List some common sins for me; pride, greed, lust, gluttony, wrath, sloth, and everyday sins like lying and stealing. All of these are self-interested behaviors. They harm those around you, and are your primal good/bad system taking full control of your actions.
