nobody should beat themselves up over past mistakes, people change yourself included, hell you even stated "my brain grew three sizes and I stopped being an actual biggot by realizing my mistake" you've changed since then or at least tried to do so since then, sure you may feel like you've been to late but you aren't a horrible person and you should go easier on yourself
