Child soldiers. Hitler created a youth wing of the Nazi Party in 1926 known as the Hitlerjugend (Hitler Youth). Children as young as 12 were being taught how to use dangerous equipment such as Panzerschrecken, Panzerfäuste, rifles, submachine guns, etc.; children were being trained as hard as the military was. During the war, Hitler began assigning the HJ to artillery batteries (so they now operated dangerous flak guns) and later even made a military formation specifically for the SS-HJ known as the 12. SS-Hitlerjugend-Panzerdivision.
