Another time, two months after Hitler had declared war on Poland, an engineer named Johann Georg Elser set up a time bomb and placed it in the pillar behind where Hitler was to deliver a speech. This was in the Bürgerbräukeller in Munich. Hitler left the place early, 13 minutes before the explosion though, and Elser was caught near the Swiss border. Heinrich Himmler himself came to torture Elser during his interrogation, and Elser was shot half a decade later in Dachau in April 1945.
