I feel like the ideas of simulation theory and "I might be in a mental asylum and I'm just imagining things while being chained to a bed" should be done away with. They should be forgotten. They've done more harm than good, e.g. the Subreddit for Simulation Theory was locked because people were constantly expressing suicidal thoughts as "if the world is just a simulation, what's the point of living?". It also could be (and probably has been) harmful to people who aren't even familiar with the theories. You know how people refer to other people as "NPCs?" What if people actually believe that other people are NPCs (a good representation of this was the Synths from the Fallout series). Well, some people do think that, but that's because of a psychiatric disorder called Capgras delusion.
