Titanium is generally found further down, best chance you have to finding it would be going through the Hell roof. Even then it's quite hard to find, so I recommend getting some of those ore potions I forgor the name of that let you see valuable items around you, including ores, way better. Titanium CAN be differed from other minerals, as it has a much rougher texture, with hints of purple and green in it.
