Well, I guess that's one way to describe the systematic and legalised subjugation of an entire group of people for 400 years, not counting for the fact that after the American Civil War, many former slaves found themselves working under their former masters because nobody else would give them a job and the Ku Klux Klan among other terrorist organisations continues to oppress people of colour to this day.
