Karl Marx, who is credited with theorising Communism (the ideological opposite of Nazism) as we know it today, was, himself, German. Many Austrians and Germans who fled Nazi Germany, including Hitler's own nephew (William Stuart-Houston) fought against the Axis during World War II. Albert Einstein, a Jewish-German fled Germany in 1933 and later took part in the Manhattan Project and creation of the atomic bomb that ended the war.
