A lot of people (including myself) have made the mistake of assuming the United Kingdom is made up of just one people and refer to the UK in its entirety as 'English'. This is not true. There are the English, the Welsh, the Anglo-Irish, the Anguillans, the Cornish, the Scotts, the Shetlanders, the Manx, the Orcadians, the Pitkerners, et cetera. Collectively, they are known as the British.
