It's commonly accepted that the Great Depression ended in 1936-39, and, in many aspects, that was true, however in terms of unemployment, the United States never fully recovered until 1941 after the Pearl Harbor bombing raid. It was likely due to the transition of the U.S. to a war economy and the encouragement of women to serve in the work force.
