No, it's nothing like that. Just something I noticed I tend to do quite a bit. Instead of working on a completely original story for my characters, which would serve them a lot better, I instead just take existing stories that I really enjoy, like FNaF or Undertale to name a couple, and try to write my characters into those stories.
