f3a99f There is an irony in saying "the German War Machine." It was a mostly organic. The British had tanks before us in the Great War and, at the peak of the Second World War, only 20% of all German infantry divisions were motorised. Nearly 2/3rds of all German transportation then was via horses. There were more cavalry units and more generals held the rank of General der Kavallerie than General der Panzertruppe.
