9ce148 (*i dont want to be mindless, do you? i dont want to be forced to do the same thing over and over, and i am physically and mentally unable to say no, that'd be torture)
44dd83 Why is that a bad thing?
9ce148 (*because if everyones the same, they're not people anymore)
44dd83 Whats so terrible about everyone having the same mindset if that mindset is the best mindset?
44dd83 You say a robot cant choose based off of its own morals, but your morals are not something you choose. You seem to be leaning to heavily on the concept of free will and forgetting the fact that its made up. Every single action you make is determined allready by everything you experienced in the past and everything you will encounter in the future. If you had a powerful enough computer, you could calculate your entire life down to every single minute detail perfectly. Now wheres your free will? If uninformed you will live the rest of your life exactly how that computer describes it. You wont deviate from that fate, its like saying 2 + 2 is randomly gonna become 5.
9ce148 (*i know i'm me because there's no one else like me on this rock in the middle of nowhere. some people can come uncannily close, but they're not truly me)
9ce148 (*being able to choose based on your own morals is something a robot cant do. because they cannot compute morals, only orders.)
9ce148 (*granted, doing so would gravely hurt me in several ways, so that's a strong deterrent, but i digress)
44dd83 Thats terrible, remove that. We do not need that, and we never will.
9ce148 (*if i wanna consciously choose to disobey everything i was taught simply because i feel like it, i can just DO that)
44dd83 why is the ability to choose to be evil even a thing you want
9ce148 (*but i will give you this one: machine-learning algorithm. that's not something to be taken lightly)
9ce148 (*but being conscious allows me to, if i really wanted to, react to something in the worst way possible. a robots programming wouldn't let it do that. i have the power to CHOOSE to be worse, it doesn't. you'd have to manually open it up, and program it to be evil)
35dc76 "your programmer is the world" 🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
44dd83 And you think you aren't programmed? you think you come up with your own decisions? The decision you make to reach out and type out a message you thought of after reading this post can be traced back to specific experiences you have encountered in the past. You are literally just an equation, turning input into output. Your programmer is the world.
9ce148 (*those are the robots goals because the creator programmed to be like that. those goals aren't its own)
9ce148 (*and by people, i mean the humans in the game. suddenly now that the robots had consciousness, mistreating them went from the humans being careless to oh, that's suddenly racism)
44dd83 The robots main goal would be to be a perfect member of society, one that allows for the constant survival, comfort, and progression of its species.
44dd83 By robot I mean a creature similar to a human that has all sorts of sensory input, and can make logical calculations based off of that input, then make decisions based off of those calculations, decisions in the real world.
9ce148 (*Detroit: Become Human is a prime example of robots suddenly gaining the gift of consciousness, and .. well people didn't take too kindly to that, not at first)
9ce148 (*robots dont have free will, they're forced to obey orders given to them by their creator. consciousness defines something as able to make their own choices, for themselves.)
44dd83 What makes me me? I would argue that I am built solely by my past. Everything I have experienced has built me up; my personality, my interests, my dislikes, how i react to things on a daily basis. The thing is a robot is just a more refined version of experience based decision making. in that case, why would it matter? Because I would lose individuality, because everyone would become the same? Why is that a problem? What is so desirable about being different?
35dc76 *just sitting leaned back in a chair with his legs over the counter just listening to the conversation*
35dc76 *popcorn crunching*
9ce148 (*AIs aren't conscious. atleast .. i think they're not)
9ce148 (*being a robot means you're not you.)
44dd83 Whats so bad about being a robot scott?
9ce148 (*clams can get away with having thousands of kids because they dont have to worry about bills, or teaching their kids right from wrong. all they have to do is say "eat this, stay away from these. i'll keep you for like maybe a day, but then you're done, get the fuck out")
44dd83 But when you have only a few kids, you're able to get them to grow up to be better people. Less neglect and more love towards that child allows for them to develop good morality. Which means overall, having sex with multiple people just doesnt make sense, especially considering how understanding builds slowly when it comes to someone like your romantic partner. So why clothes? Well, we primally get aroused when we see someone naked, it just how it is. So covering up prevents that basic primal urge from surfacing at all. More complex forms of this are not talking to other people you could be romantically interested in, not watching porn, or literally anything that could distract/take away from your relationship with your partner.
44dd83 But that still raises the question: why do we wear clothes? Why is it accepted that sex and intimacy are a personal, one on one thing? Again it has all to do with moving past our animalistic tendencies and becoming more rationally bound. It makes sense to have one, two, three or just a little amount of kids. Humans are ill equipped to not only raise but raise well more than that. Having say 20 kids, and you can't give them all equal attention, equal love, equal care, equal resources. Species like clams have hundreds of thousands of babies at once because they want to maximize individual reproduction, without any need for any higher brain function.
9ce148 (*too much of one thing always ends up being bad. to that end im glad we're humans, and not soulless automatons that only exist to follow orders. we're all unique)
9ce148 (*also by that logic, the perfect human arguably isnt even human, its a robot. perfectly logical, no primal desires)
9ce148 (*oh, dont be sorry for the yapping, bmo. i like thinking about certain things, 'specially science stuff. (even though im entirely out of my league to be doing so) )
44dd83 Adam and Eve being sinless is literally a perfect human. Biting the apple gave them that animalistic desire system, hence why they got embarrassed that they where naked and so on. Embarrassments, especially over being naked, come from the fact that sex and intimacy are morally very personal concepts, and so being naked and exposing yourself carelessly to the public breaks that conceptual understanding, and you feel really bad because of it. Others find you weird, perverted, they dont want to interact with you. But this is a primal good/bad response. If you allready understand that sex and intimacy are a personal thing on the rational level, you don't need clothing because clothing is to stop your animal brain from throwing alarm bells.
9ce148 (*like how Lilith disguised herself as a snake, and convinced Eve to eat the apple. that's an interpretation of her primal instinct of 'eat to survive' winning)
44dd83 And, forgive me, again im only hypothesizing here based off of not much, but "God" could manifest as our moral objective and "work together" logical side of our brains.
44dd83 For me its really hard to tell if Lucifer is an actual entity or the metaphorical representation of our animalistic brain. Like I know angels and other metaphysical entities are really hard to understand, so its completely possible that "Lucifer" is literally just the primal brain section in every humans brain.
35dc76 >appears out of nowhere >"neat." >vanishes
9ce148 (*so in laymens terms, God is good because he teaches you to put others above yourself, and do virtuous things. Lucifer is like "hey moron you're here because you were selfish, maybe dont do that next time")
44dd83 Also the tendency for humans to form emotional bonds with creatures like pets and even plants or inanimate objects is called Biophilia, apparently
You can leave feedback about PAM here, but please note that I don't have a lot of time to work on PAM at the moment. There are lots of other tools out there (see here for examples) in case you need a tool with more features. Thank you for your understanding!
