you can do frame by frame animation on scratch or you can literally tell an object to move a certain way using code. you can legit say "repeat 20 times, move -1 x" and it moves to the left. but it'll be a constant linear motion with no speeding up or slowing down, so if you want extremely smooth speeding up and slowing down, you can use a sine function, basically replacing the "move -1 x" with "move -1sin(x)" (not how it would actually work just as a demonstration) and it would make it move like that ball in that gif (side to side instead of up and down)
