My hands slap backwards onto the wall. Instantaneously, I jolt back to reality. Almost as if I am suddenly anchored, my arms soothe and my chest hangs loose. The rough wall has texture, unlike the endless, cold floor. Delicious, comforting texture. Change, not mundane nothingness. My chains rattle against its crevices, clicking as I glide my palm across its surface. It calms my aches. I can feel my stiff neck again, it is no longer drowning in the rush of horrid pain. I put both my hands upon the wall and feel its story etch into my palms. I can feel my heart's drumming return back to normal.
