I still don't fully like or trust him either, but you're right about one thing. The puppets help him. They serve as some sort of mental support for him. How healthy that is, I'm not sure, but it's what he does. And you can be sure that he's not going to just drop them anytime soon, so you're probably gonna have to suck it up. Or you can ignore it.
