you don't see any of the war in ultrakill anyways, it's just the lore behind it, you just play as V1 killing in the layers of hell, (WITH THE BEST MUSIC BTW) and then fighting angels like gabriel and virtues. (also demons, husks, other machines, and PRIME SOULS)
