I hear a pebble tumble as I scrape my feet across the ground to get into a seated position. In the dark, I cannot tell what caused the noise. I close my eyes, rest my head against the wall, breathing heavily through my nose like a horse. I stay as still as possible, moments later hearing another pebble clatter on the floor. I cannot tell where it came from, the sound seems to attack me from every direction. I stay as still as possible, even with the rusted clasps digging into my wrists, I make sure to not make a single sound besides my ragged breathing. I can almost swear to hear my tedious heartbeat echoing off of the walls.
