Description: Many years have come and gone since humanity began the industrial revolution. Now, the world pays for our foolishness. The sea has arisen higher and higher, leaving most of the world deep underwater. The water is hot and full of mysterious ancient viruses, freed from their arctic prisons and released to reign havoc on mankind. The lucky few who survived wish they didn’t. This world is violent and hostile, with hurricanes greater than anything we’ve experienced claiming anyone by the much closer shoreline. The atmosphere is weak, and hangs by a thread. The heat and radiation upon our skin dissolves sweat and our skin dries instantly, forcing us to the same shoreline that has claimed so many for any hope of decent life. The cruel sun hangs above, shining bolder and brighter, exerting all of its solar wrath upon our skin. By the shore there is still some hope for us; small anarchic settlements emerge aiming to rebuild life from square one. Small buildings borrow deep underground in case of disaster. We thought we had it all figured out, but the earth quickly showed us how fast our societies can be unraveled. Another hurricane came to wash the stain of humanity away. We were ready of course, and settled underground to wait it out. But this one wasn't going anywhere. It flooded into our underground and ravaged the top, sealing us in where death awaits form both above and below. I have been sealed for days, and yesterday my last colleague passed away. I am alone. Deep underground, as the wicked sea rages on above, humanity comes to its end. We pay for our massacre of the earth, all the while the cruel sun looks on in glee burning brighter as it claims the earth back at last.
