10670a Another time, two months after Hitler had declared war on Poland, an engineer named Johann Georg Elser set up a time bomb and placed it in the pillar behind where Hitler was to deliver a speech. This was in the Bürgerbräukeller in Munich. Hitler left the place early, 13 minutes before the explosion though, and Elser was caught near the Swiss border. Heinrich Himmler himself came to torture Elser during his interrogation, and Elser was shot half a decade later in Dachau in April 1945.

Before Hitler had even invaded Poland, conspirators gave Hitler a fountain pen that was rigged with explosives. Hitler never used the pen though.

Colonel Heinz Brandt moved the suitcase to the right side of the table, closer to him, and left it leaning against the leg less than a metre away from Hitler himself. This killed Brandt but saved Hitler. Some historians say that he was gravely injured and if it wasn't for British medicine he would've died due to his injuries. Others say that he was slightly wounded.

54efa9 The most famous one, the 20 July Plot, occurred when officers like Claus von Stauffenberg who had grown disillusioned with Hitler tried to kill him with explosives. Seven—almost eight—months earlier, von Stauffenberg had instructed Major Axel von dem Bussche to carry out a similar operation. Von dem Bussche attempted a suicide bombing with a landmine when Hitler was visiting the Wolf's Lair to be presented to a winter uniform for the Army. However, the event was cancelled due to an Allied air raid. Ewald von Kleist attempted something similar though the inspection was again postponed. The famous incident though, the 20 July Plot, well... the condition of Hitler after the attempt is "debatable."

Hitler was born in Braunau am Inn, a tiny town, and his father Alois, Sr. was born in the Strones hamlet of the now-abandoned farming town of Döllersheim. On top of that, Theresia (whose maiden name was Pfeißinger) and the Schicklgrubers shared a few common ancestors. For instance, Josef and Johannes' grandfather, Mathias Silip, was the brother of Ursula Silip (Theresia's great-grandmother).

Though it is unknown if Johann Georg Hiedler was Alois's biological father and not just his stepfather, what we do know is that Johann Georg's brother, Johann Nepomuk Hiedler, was the grandmother of Alois's wife, Klara Pölzl. Hitler's wife, Eva Braun, had a sister named Gretl who married Hermann Fegelein. Fegelein was a General Lieutenant in the Waffen-SS and a cavalry commander who was previously in a relationship with Angela Maria Raubal (1908-1931). Raubal was the daughter of Hitler's half-sister, Angela Franziska Johanna Hitler. But it doesn't stop there.

His father, Alois, Sr., was born Alois Schicklgruber and only changed his name in 1876 to match that of his stepfather, Johann Georg Hiedler. Some believe that Hitler's real name was Ignatz or Ignatius, a common name in Lower Austria and Bavaria at the time, as the diminutive for the name 'Ignatz' was 'Nazi'.
