Eventually, they managed to make a proper portal to the strange world, one that wasn't blocked by the black goop, yet no matter what, it seemed like someone was actively trying to block the portal's entrance with walls and spikes. It seemed impossible at the moment to get through. At times even, it seems someone managed to close the portal everytime they got it open for a little while.
