b96dec Weird... I mostly heard it was a very good adaptation. Obviously it's not perfect, like people did not like Luffy's actor simply due to the fact that he's Mexican, people didn't like the fact that Usopp doesn't have a long nose (but I mean, come on. Constantly having to put make-up just to have this guy with a long nose would be a pain in the ass), and a lot of other problems... but like, no show exists without flaws...

b96dec I mean, I guess the transition makes sense. Luffy's the only character to still have his weird joyful anime personality, where everyone else has a more realistic personality. Never smiling, never going along with Luffy's actions and just doing it because "he's our captain".
