35dc76 "((man i need to learn codin-))" the twelve thousand projects i have yet to finish:
21c5d4 I still want to price the game fairly, though. Around 20 bucks.
31c21d ok, so it's actually pretty fucking eerie, and I'm gonna need to sing
21c5d4 Because then pricing it unfairly for every chapter, only to release chapter 8 and try to combine them all together with a smaller price comapred to the other chapters combined would be unfair to the playerbase that spent so much money for every chapter only to get them all for cheaper.
31c21d . . .
21c5d4 Otherwise, NovaBound might become a BanBan situation where every chapter is it's own paid project, which would really fucking suck. Not just for them, but for me as well, since I'd need to come up with a good price-point for every chapter and it wouldn't be fair to the people who WANT to play the whole game.
21c5d4 Unfortunately, I don't think RPG Maker allows for this. So yeah, I'm going to HAVE to make every chapter an update. However, here's what I'm thinking. I want chapter 1 to be a free demo. I might just have to remake the entire chapter 1 to 1 from the demo to the paid project itself. Easiest way I can think of having it work.
31c21d I'm gonna need to study up on literally every single iteration of his song, also hey guys
21c5d4 By the way, I'm going to do chapters in MAYBE the same way as Toby with Deltarune, where the next chapter will be an update to the previous. With Deltarune, that's a game being made in a professional-use engine, GameMaker, and therefor is a lot more powerful and can handle a lot more data. Toby stated that he was thankful for the new GameMaker feature that was made SPECIFICALLY for him and his team as working on Deltarune with 4 chapters worth of excess content inside a single project would slow a lot of things down, but the new coding line GameMaker made allows them to connect projects together, so each chapter set can be made in it's own project rather than having the whole thing being made in one project.
35dc76 ((nevermind hes sleeping))
35dc76 ((im gonna go discuss this with my brother))
31c21d I've attempted to dabble with this in the past, so let's try jazz.
35dc76 ((who do i know that actually likes me, has free time, and is good at coding...?))
31c21d hm
21c5d4 Also, I like it.
21c5d4 It MIGHT make development on the game's overall release take longer. I'm probably going to make the chapters in RPG Maker first since it's a very easy engine to pick up and add some shit, and then the Godot version will be made, trying to parody the things from RPG Maker into it. Will there be differences? No doubt. But it'll overall be the exact same experience.
f5254f btw what do you guys think of Penumbra Phantasm
985214 The RPG Maker version will be the first version made, and after a bit I'll switch to Godot for the PC version. The console version, however, will still be made in RPG Maker. And I will sell the RPG Maker version on Steam as well, likely as a side-bundle with the Godot version.
985214 So NovaBound will be in dual-development mode after I get some chapters made and I get some knowledge in coding.
985214 Only problem with Godot is that it DESPISES consoles. So console export with it'll be impossible.
f245da Honestly I still need to play omori but yeah
f5254f should I play Omori someday?
985214 I want to use Godot for NovaBound, since there's a really cool built-in feature where you can have dynamic lighting using normal maps and a light texture. It's actually really cool, and because of it being a texture, I can actually change the color and have different lighting effects. It's pretty damn cool.
35dc76 *SLAM* ((and my chances of actually finding a professional coder that would want to do this with me is slim to none))
af6761 I kinda have to, if I want to make NovaBound in a different engine from RPG Maker. It'll make it look a lot better from the generic RPG Maker feel, and a whole lot more easier in the long run. RPG Maker's good, but it's very limiting and plugins can only get you so far.
35dc76 ((what am i on about im not a coder in the slightest, at most i would just be the guy making the checklist and ideas for the engine and someone else codes and makes it,))
35dc76 ((ohh and i could also add a deltarune battle style if i ever do make it))
35dc76 ((if i do ever learn to code, if i make this im gonna make it more of an undertale battle engine if i can, so it can be used to make a fight against literally anything with the undertale battle style, the person using it just has to create sprites and import them into the engine,
af6761 I want to use Deltarune's battle system because it makes battles more fun. Visually, I do think the Mario and Luigi series does the whole "dodging the attack" thing better, but fun-wise, I prefer Deltarune's system.
af6761 Oh-
35dc76 ((not really what i meant, i mean like, spinning camera, zooming in and out, flashing to the beat of the music, stuff like that))
f245da chu
af6761 I understand how shit WORKS, I just don't understand how to code it together...
af6761 Also Sans isn't moving the camera. It's just giving the illusion off by having the bullet board expand outside the screen's borders, the bullets moving a specific direction, and Sans himself just sliding rapidly to the left.
35dc76 ((jinx you owe me a root beer))
35dc76 ((and by more of my calculations i cant code for shit lmao, so im just gonna have to convince my brother or someone else to do it, or just find a program that someone else made that i can use))
af6761 Wished I understood how to make bullet patterns... I can't code for shit, so it's really complicated...
35dc76 ((by my calculations, thats a lot of shit))
35dc76 ((well if i were to make one, -or get my brother too- it would need all the bullet types, all the actual kinds of bullets, stuff like bones fire and spears, it would need a bullet board that can be easily changed, the ability to make custom bullets, the ability to change the sprite and how attacks and the bullet board looks, it would need the ability to have the player attack, have the enemy be able to dodge, block, parry, and also have HP, it would need speech bubbles and flavor text, the ability to move the camera, camera effects, hm))
You can leave feedback about PAM here, but please note that I don't have a lot of time to work on PAM at the moment. There are lots of other tools out there (see here for examples) in case you need a tool with more features. Thank you for your understanding!
