Since American and British paratroopers carried equipment (radios, guns, ammunition, parachutes, rations, etc.) which weighed a lot, they began to sink in the water and drown. American and British parachute buckles at the time were built differently and while British paratroopers had a quick-release on their parachute buckles, Americans did not and took an average of 6.4 more seconds to remove their equipment. This resulted in most American paratroopers of the 101st drowning. I know you are more interested in air forces and aircraft and, well, basically anything related to air forces than I am, so could you explain it?
