14d431 I mean they are, almost all the religious people i've met are awesome people. Everyone terrible i've met for the most part hasn't been religious.

22b29f while answers arent simple, my opinion is that religion can have its values twisted in ways where religion is tied to the values of how you should live AND how others should live. Some people aren't taught that people have a right to choose and they believe they know whats best because of their belief in their importance in the cog that is salvation. And then there are some people who simply use religion to manipulate people because its an easy way to get desperate and lost people to find anything to believe in.

d6a35f i think it's because that the religion in specific has a ton of lines you can just rip out of context. like with the "wives must submit to their husbands" line in the bible, the sentence right after follows that with something along the lines of "and husbands must also respect their wives for they are equals". that's probably not a reason why many religious people are horrible (in this case, Christians), but it is one of the things they do, i guess.
