e656d4 [Andre] [you literally said i was intellectually insulted]
14d431 Does your brain care alot about what others think about you? Focus on that. God wants me to not backtalk. Ok, but why? Hell? Hmm. Oh, wait, if I backtalk, it will lead to overall conflict, and if that person finds out (they almost allways do) they will dislike me heavily. They will tell others about what i've done. I'll be seen for being a horrible, outcasted human being. I understand now WHY God wants me to not do this. It makes sense. My faith is stronger now.
c0f84e sigh i think we all need some sleep and some jorking off
8426a8 hoo boy ive got my work cut out for me
c0f84e since when did i say u were called dumb...
e656d4 [Steelheron Monarch] [reread it, he didnt call me an idiot, he called me impudent, which means cocky about a subject or somthing close to it, which isnt calling me dumb]
14d431 Overall my point is; the reason self reflection is so encouraged in religion and overall psychological betterment is because in order to understand God you have to understand how you understand first, then develop your mindset and set rulesets in your own mind based off of what ways you interpret the world.
14d431 Ofc theres psychology in this God invented the brain as our vessel for testing us through our decision making and internal conflict
c0f84e mf u got intellectially insulted wdym two bit aside.
14d431 But if I attribute it to MYSELF instead? If I say I am literally a NEGATIVE aspect of society? That I am actively the enemy of the collective good of humanity? Then, an inkling of reality starts forming. By forcing myself to understand the implications (logical wise) of my actions, I can logically come to a conclusion that I should stop, and I feel more inclined to seek help. And this isn't disconnecting my motivation from God, it's taking a different facet of viewing religious duty and implementing it. My purpose on Earth, in this society of humans, is to be good, because being good as a human makes humanity better. If I am doing bad at that, I want to change. It's much, much easier to follow than just thinking to myself that after I die I'm gonna be burning forever. Which, yes, that will happen too. But what motivates me more is the perspective that aligns with the way I interpret the world.
8426a8 holy crud theres acc psychology in this
e656d4 [Steelheron Monarch] [anyways twobit aside, im not being cocky about it, i genuinely dont do any of those things, i dont indulge in drugs, porn, lying, etc etc. Ive been avoiding a lot.]
14d431 Theres no opposition to them so they just grow and grow. If left unchecked, how would one get out of them? For me compulsive lying was an issue for a while. Knowing that God was watching in and of itself didn't allways help out that much since, well, ok, he's watching, I can still lie. Animal brain, see's no immediant consequences = doesn't care.
14d431 Anyways, these private addictions.
8426a8 so it would boil down the maturity of the brain?? or js outright rejection of God and his values which ig is the same thing
c0f84e ohhh thats what he meant? why couldn't he just say so.
8426a8 point being its hard being consistent with faith because you dont feel rewarded for your acts i see i see
c0f84e he just called u a leech brain i wouldn't let that slide
e656d4 [Andre] [Let him speak ๐ฃ๏ธ]
14d431 Confident impudence to your own capability to slip up is dangerous eku. There are things you don't notice about yourself that are leeches to your brain.
c0f84e Bro its not that serious just let go bmo
14d431 Things like smoking and drinking and other public addictions are more difficult to maintain. People try to hide it, try to be secretive, but it ends up being public anyways. And boy, peer pressure is a wonderous hack. It can get you to do things you would never ever do in your right mind, or get out of things that you are completely devoted to otherwise. You stick a man into a room with a couple other men who all seem to believe that the word cherry is spelled with an i instead of an e, and he'll genuinely start to doubt himself even though he's read the word hundreds of thousands of times before. Case in point, public actions get public shunning, and are easier to let go of.
e656d4 [Andre] [ Also i think im good on the compulsive stuff, I really dont do any of that. ]
14d431 It's because they have a reward, and they're literally unmonitered. You can keep watching porn in secret, keep lying secretely, keep cheating secretely, and never get caught. So the brain gets used to them, low risk high reward activities. Morality starts crumbling once you find something like that. It's like addiction gold.
e656d4 [Origin] [Religion isnt really my level of expertise and honestly I have other things to deal with, if anyting im getting into bhuddism ]
14d431 So, in turn, when it comes to keeping faith, I have a mental check system. First off, I wanted to make a point. What makes things such as porn addiction, compulsive lying, cheating, and whatnot so hard to stop doing?
14d431 But yeah. Like I said, I approach theological concepts with a skeptical eye first. Analyzing meaning, understanding, structure. Why would this make sense if it was true? Why is it a rule? When it comes to religion, people have said I explain my beliefs more like someone explaining a chemistry law than explaining their faith. I'm very logical.
c0f84e why tf am i making so many grammar mistakes, Take notes*
c0f84e some*
c0f84e bmo when i say give pam so activity i don't mean a boring lesson on why religions are whack, takes notes.
14d431 im doing calc homework too bro dw
8426a8 was lowk doing calc bc i am NOT finished
14d431 pam just commited suicide or something
8426a8 yeah please thatd be litty, and youre right if was 100% provable it wouldnt be faith there really wouldnt be free will i never came around to that
14d431 Now for individual certainty and sanctity of faith, that varies from person to person. I can tell you how I keep my faith in check though.
14d431 The reason why faith is so difficult for most people is because you literally cannot prove it. There is no way for you to 100 percent know that faith in God is right. Try to imagine if faith was 100 percent provable. If every "Oh God, if you exist, give me a sign" was answered. Then wheres the free will? Everyone knows God exists so they just go ahead and do whatever he wants. The exact beauty of pure belief stems from the fact that you dont KNOW for sure, you CANT know for sure, but, you look at the world, you look at its beauty, you look at its ugliness, you look at its complexity, you look at your own complexity, and, you choose to believe anyways. The term "leap of faith" stems from that literal fact. It's a leap. Nothing calculated or deterministic about it. Just like a trust fall between friends, you are putting yourself in the most vulnerable position a human can take: voluntary uncertainty. And thats the truest testimate you can give to anything, in this case God.

8426a8 (i needa read more) so religion is a good way to live with purpose but how do you percieve the existance of God bc my core struggle is trying to balance my faith, theres a lot of times i understand the purpose and value in religion but my trust in God slips sometimes
14d431 I think the point so many people miss about why belief and morality and actually following the lifestyle and teachings that religion gives us is that yes, we follow so we are set for the afterlife. But we also follow so our society may prosper. A human that has control over his primal, animalistic side, is a developed, thoughtful, logical human. One that can make decisions realistically and heuristically, not out of emotion or archaic instinct. If you are selfless, you help others. If other people are also selfless, they help you. If you do not lust, you do not prioritize base, meaningless hormonal pleasure over long term development and upbringing, leading to a more prosperous society. Our ability to ignore our animal sides is what gives us free will. We can sin, be like animals, or we can virtue, be like angels. Reflections of God's mercy upon us; we aren't mindless beasts of flesh, and we aren't robotic beings of order. We are in between. A truly divine gift.
You can leave feedback about PAM here, but please note that I don't have a lot of time to work on PAM at the moment. There are lots of other tools out there (see here for examples) in case you need a tool with more features. Thank you for your understanding!
